Federation Soldier Original Costume

The suits and costumes from the fifth element are very appealing. Designed by the French costumer Jean-Paul Gaultier they are original and in the same way very established by following the SF codes. M. Gaultier has worked quite a few times for the movie industries in the past. One of his remembered contribution is for the French movie la Cité des Enfants Perdus (directed by Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet and released in 1995). This military suit is a good example of his work on this classic SF movie made by Luc Besson in 1997.

This suit was worn by a background actor who played one of the militaries. These ones can be seen several times all along the movie. The most recognizable military is General Munro played by Brion James (an actor who was often cast for the sidekick’s parts). Brion James is well known by the Science-fiction movies’ fans, due to his participations to the movies Enemy Mine and Blade Runner.
