Mogwai prototype

This Prototype Mogwai Puppet was created by Rick Baker's team for the production of Gremlins 2: The New Batch, directed by Joe Dante.

This preliminary concept was created a whole new generation of Mogwai who was to appear in the sequel movei. It seems that several new Mogwai were imagined during the pre-production of the film, including Gary, Doodaah, Penny, Brownie, Patches, Spot, Bertie, Chuck et Zoe. Some have been abandoned like this prototype of Zoe.. We can observe notable differences in the color of the fur compared to Gizmo.

The puppet is made of a sheet foam and fur body, with a foam latex face and ears. This puppet is measuring 10.5" (27cm) and is attached to a wooden base (made for the production).

This puppet was made only for presentation and approvement. The screen used versions feature animatronic mechanisms or open head or back for insertion of the puppeteer's hand in order to walk the Puppet with his/her fingers.
