Andrew Android Original Animatronic (Robin Williams)

Hero animatronic "Andrew" android from Bicentennial Man. This is the hero animatronic and cable controlled "Andrew" android featuring full cable controls. This android is highly visible in the early scenes when "Andrew" is uncrated after being delivered to the family. It features servo-activated panels in the head and chest to reveal intricate circuitry and electronics. This is the most complete robotic "Andrew" figure made for the film. Stands approximately 6 ft. tall.

Sculpted by Jose Fernandez, engineering by Lennie MacDonald and William Bryan, under the supervision of Steve Johnson through is company XFX (Edge FX). Johnson started his own effects company XFX in 1986 renamed Edge FX in 1989 for James Cameron's The Abyss. He created the "alien" creatures for the film's climax.

Based on Isaac Asimov's 1976 novella of the same name, the film starred comedian Robin Williams as robot servant NDR-114, who exhibits human characteristics and eventually turns himself into a prosthetic human. The robot's model number (114) was thought to be a tribute to Stanley Kubrick, who used the number in many of his film including Dr. Strangelove and A Clockwork Orange.
