Male Chimpanzee's suit
The chimpanzee’s suits for the movie Planet of the Apes was created by Morton Haack. The iconic design reflects a rather primitive civilization. The costume consists of a tunic, a body shirt, trousers and a pair of strange shoes. They were adapted to the shape of the monkey’s feet.
Morton Haack worked on the first film Planet of the Apes (1968) and its sequel Beneath Planet of the Apes (1970). Due to his contribution in the first movie, Morton Haack was nominated for an Academy Award in 1969. The costumes of the film were made by “The Western Costume Co. Hollywood” and were reused in the next four films and the TV series.
